Taraira Gold Belt
The Taraira Gold Belt is made up of a series of resistant quartz-sandstone ridges (Spanish: Serranias) straddling the Colombian-Brazilian border in an area surrounding the small town of Taraira in southeastern Colombia. The ridges, many of which stretch for tens of kilometers, stand modestly (ca. 100 m) above the surrounding lowlands. Gold mineralization is known to occur in several of these ridges and evidence of artisanal gold recovery operations is widespread in the area.
Machado Project
Cosigo's 100%-owned 9,973 hectare Machado property is located on Machado ridge approximately 180 km SSE of the provincial capital of Mitu in the Vaupes province of southeastern Colombia. The property, which covers the southernmost approximately 20 kilometers of the ridge, is centered six kilometers west of the town of Taraira. Access to the project area is by air and Taraira has a well maintained gravel airstrip capable of accepting large aircraft such as the locally popular DC-3. An existing jeep road connects the airstrip and town with Cosigo's property. At the centre of the Machado property Cosigo has established a 30-man exploration camp. The camp is located in an area that since the 1980s has hosted numerous artisanal mining operations. Gold mineralization is known to occur at Machado ridge over much of the 20 kilometer strike-length covered by Cosigo's property.
